Government Expenditure on Social Services – 1988-1989
Author: Yaakov Kop, Joel Blankett, Dalit Sharon Policy Research

This study reviews Israel’s 1989 social budget – its magnitude, its share of all government outlays and economic activity in general, and its distribution across the various areas of social services: income maintenance, education, health, personal social services, housing, employment, and immigrant absorption.

These fields are surveyed as they stand at present and are compared with corresponding magnitudes in the past, with special emphasis on the 1980s.

This paper appears as a chapter in the Center’s annual publication, Israel’s Social Services 1988-1989, Yaakov Kop (editor). This publication is available upon request.
