Publications
The Taub Center publishes a set of annual publications (Periodicals) including the social economic report on the state of Israel’s society and economy. This publication, the Annual State of the Nation Report: Society, Economy and Policy in Israel is part of the Herbert M. Singer Annual Report Series. The State of the Nation Report, which has been published continuously under various titles since 1983, focuses on poverty, income inequality, economic growth, education, employment, health, welfare services, social security and the allocation of government expenditures for the various social services. The analyses combine an international perspective with an historical one for these various topics. Key figures and tables from this report, as well as graphs and charts on other topical issues may be found in the English publication ISRAEL: Social-Economic Review. Fast Facts for the Busy Reader provides important statistics about Israel at a glance.
Individual studies conducted by resident and non-resident researchers on timely issues in society and the economy are published as Taub Center Discussion Papers. From time to time, the Center puts out Special Issues publications in the form of reports, policy papers and books.
This spectrum of in-depth research is complemented by short analyses that appear in the Center’s periodic Bulletin.

The Start-Up Nation’s Threat from Within
Three main vantage points are brought together in this chapter: (1) Israel’s relatively good economic performance in recent years – at least, in comparison with other Western countries that have still not emerged from the recession; (2) motivations for the wave of social protests that erupted in Israel in the summer of 2011, and; (3) the big picture, which is the primary one, incorporating the first two vantage points with additional issues, and framing them within long-run and international contexts.
