Israel: Social-Economic Review 2002

As the Jewish world embarked on the new year 5763, one of its primary focal points, Israel, is still mired in violent struggle and murderous terror.  On the economic side, despite the pounding that the economy has taken in recent years, its basic structure seems to have considerable potential that will allow it to return to a path of growth after the security problems are solved. The seeds planted at the beginning of the decade, and the opportunities that they have created for the economy, assure a higher level of well-being in the future, that – one hopes – will be shared more equally than in previous years.
