Israel’s social welfare system provides an array of social services and benefits for the nation’s weakest population groups. The Social Welfare Policy Program analyzes the structure, availability, accessibility and coverage of various social programs as well as the degree to which these programs are understood and utilized by the intended recipients. Examples of work in this area include social policy services and benefits relating to the family, retirement and the elderly in the workforce, and the National Insurance Institute’s programs for reducing poverty.
Social Welfare Policy Program Fellows bring an interdisciplinary approach to the issues they examine. In this Policy Program, leading academic researchers from the disciplines of sociology, social work, economics and gerontology join with former top professionals from the National Insurance Institute, the Knesset Research Department, and other prominent experts from the field.
